Fundraising

Fundraising is a vital part of FOW.  It allows us to accomplish our mission statement by supporting State Park requests. Annually we have three planned fundraising efforts, two of which are our Full Moon Snowshoe Hikes in January and February. These hikes are very popular and normally have 90-100 participants. The third event is usually in late summer or fall. Over the past eleven years we have had a variety of fundraising events: golf scrambles, garage sales, formal dinners and silent auctions. These events take place somewhere within the State Park. We have used the State Park Golf Courses, The Chalet, the Visitor Center and Soldier Hollow Day lodge.

We are always trying to think of new ways to accumulate more funds. Over the past few years we have been very successful with opportunity drawings at our Member Dinner and Holiday Party.

Several years ago FOW purchased 60+ pair of snowshoes. We have these snowshoes at the Visitor Center for the public to rent during the winter months. FOW receives all rental fees.

All of the funds we raise go into a general fund to help meet the requests of the Park Staff with the exception of the fall fundraiser. We have at times dedicated these funds to a special park project decided upon in agreement with FOW Board and Park Staff.

We rely on members volunteering to help and at times ask community businesses

for donations. In all our efforts we try to have fun with no pressure involved.
