Jan 24, 2012 Snow Shoe Hike

Participation was light but those that attended had a super evening. We experienced mild temperatures and a gorgeous clear ski with the moon and stars as brilliant as you could hope for.
About 10 hiked the freshly groomed trail on the
Lake golf course lead by John and Judy Huhn.
Kathy Donnell, our park naturalist, took another group of 10
and headed up the Visitor Center Trail taking the Spring Pond Loop
back. Along the way she
identified constellations and stars and then asked us to turn off
our lights and challenged us to hike without them and let our eyes
adjust to the dark. It
was awesome! Two even more adventurous hikers decided to do the full
Visitor Center Trail for a great work out!
May 14, 2011 Deer Creek Reservoir Trail Hike

May 14, 2011 Members of The Friends of trekked six miles
in two hours on the Deer Creek Reservoir trail surrounded by
blooming trees, sage, and grasses. The weather was perfect
with moderate spring temperatures and partly cloudy blue skies.
Views were topped off with distant vistas of snow-capped
mountains through Provo Canyon on the trip out and the Wasatch
Mountains on the return.
June 18, 2011 Faucett Trail Hike

The Faucett Trail hike on July 9, 2011 proved to be more
challenging than expected. After about an hour of walking on a
primarily uphill trail we encountered a strong stream of water
running directly through the center of the trail.
